1. Barack Obama recommends"Homeland Elegies" by Ayad Akhtar

Every year, the 44th President of the United States shares the things he most enjoyed, and among the many books he gave in his 2020 list, Homeland Elegies, was amongst them.

A deeply personal work about hope and identity in a nation coming apart at the seams. This book blends fact and fiction to tell an epic story of belonging and dispossession in the world that 9/11 made. Part family drama, part social essay, part picaresque adventure -- at its heart, it is the story of a father, a son, and the country they both call home.

2. Beyonce recommends "We Should All be Feminists" by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie

What does “feminism” mean today? In a world where gender roles are changing are changing at the speed of light we need to be constantly informed and updated. With humor, the author, Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie, offers readers a unique definition of feminism for the twenty-first century—one rooted in inclusion and awareness. 3. Jennifer Anniston recommends "The Girl on the Train" by Paula Hawkins

Rachel catches the same commuter train every morning. She knows it will wait at the same signal each time, overlooking a row of back gardens. She’s even started to feel like she knows the people who live in one of the houses. “Jess and Jason,” she calls them. Their life—as she sees it—is perfect. If only Rachel could be that happy. And then she sees something shocking. It’s only a minute until the train moves on, but it’s enough. Now everything’s changed.

4. Bill Gates recommends "The Choice: Embrace the Possible" by Edith Eger

In his personal blog Bill Gates gives his thoughts and opinion on this acclaimed book. This book is partly a memoir and partly a guide to processing trauma. Edith Eger was only sixteen years old when she and her family got sent to Auschwitz. After surviving unbelievable horrors, she moved to the United States and became a therapist. Her unique background gives her amazing insight, and I think many people will find comfort right now from her suggestions on how to handle difficult situations.

During an interview with British GQ, Dua Lipa said "My favorite book is The Unbearable Lightness of being. It's a very complicated love story, and it's a brilliant book. Everyone should read it."

This is the story of a young woman in love with a man torn between his love for her and his incorrigible womanizing and one of his mistresses and her humbly faithful lover. This magnificent novel juxtaposes geographically distant places, brilliant and playful reflections, and a variety of styles, to take its place as perhaps the major achievement of one of the world’s truly great writers.

6. Selena Gomez recommends "Becoming" by Michelle Obama

I grew up watching a lot of Dateline-type shows with my mom and to this day, we love playing detective and trying to figure out who did it."

An incisive and compelling account of the case of 21-year-old Lucie Blackman, who stepped out into the vastness of Tokyo in the summer of 2000 and disappeared forever. The following winter, her dismembered remains were found buried in a seaside cave.
