Three Years of More Than Reading

Three Years of Bookstagram–Three Years of More Than Reading.

Here's to more years of reading and sharing it all with you.

“One must always be careful of books and what is inside them, for words have the power to change us.”

–Cassandra Clare

Three Years... Can You Believe It?

It's strange how time flies. One minute you're a girl just out of college, feeling lost, and then in the blink of an eye… three years have passed. Hundreds of books read and countless more added to the TBR pile. But the most unexpected thing? During this time, I've not only fallen back in love with reading but also found my community. I've met amazing people with whom I can share my latest reads, endlessly discuss book boyfriends, and even open up and get to know them on a personal level.

I am beyond grateful for this community. My words can't fully express the whirlwind of emotions I feel knowing I've found my people. Little Gal would be thrilled to know that grown-up Gal found others who love reading and that she's no longer the odd one out for choosing to read during lunch breaks rather than play outside with the other kids. I want to believe she'd be proud of the community we've built here, because, damn, I AM PROUD.

It's insane to think that a social app can bring people from all over the world together and turn them into friends. I mean, I can now say I have more friends all over the world than in Mexico City! And even though some people don't understand how strangers can become friends over the internet, it's because they haven't met such wonderful people as I have.

I still can't wrap my mind around it. I get emotional thinking about how much I've grown and learned, all because I randomly decided to open a Bookstagram account with no idea where it might lead. And yet, here we are, three years later with more than a thousand followers, countless friends, countless books read, and a book written by me soon to be published. It's wild.

I promised myself I'd try to keep this post short because I tend to write and write, making longer posts than I should. But, well… the author in me gets excited and wants to spill over. So, I'll finish by saying that I'm eternally grateful to Gal of 2021 for putting aside her fears and taking the leap into the void, and to you, my dear bookish friends, for also opening an account without knowing where it would lead you.

Here's to more years of reading and sharing it all with you.

Love you to whatever end♡
