Cheers to every girl and woman in books who have empowered us and made us believe we can be anything we desire.

Women's Day
This week was Women's Day, and how different was from previous years. Normally, I post about how awesome we women, are and how strong and resilient we had to become in a world rule by men. It has been hard to be a woman since the beginning of humanity, but that hasn't stopped us, instead has made us stronger: it has made us join forces. And how proud I am to be a woman.
But this year, I was able to march and advocate for every girl and women's dream: to have equity. Not equality since they are not the same. We are never going to be equal to men since they have different anatomy, hormones, and biology than us. But, having equity is something we can have: equal pay, equal accessibility, equal rights… you name it.
I walked more than 10,000 steps (yep, Nesta would be proud), and I screamed and sang with my sisters, mom, and more than 90 thousand women. NINETY THOUSAND women. How insane is that?! The following day, while watching the news, I almost burst and cried. The feeling of having been part of something as big as that was amazing and so special. I still get goosebumps thinking about it.
Fictional Female Role Models
I have confirmed again and again how women are unstoppable, and I wouldn't feel this way if I didn't have powerful female role models. In addition to having real-life role models, I also have fictional role models, which are just as important to me as real-life ones. For years, I have felt inferior, like I didn't belong anywhere, but how much that perspective has changed since I started reading again and found Bookstagram.
In these last two years that I have been part of Bookstagram, I have learned that it doesn't matter if you read fantasy or romance, or any other genre, you can find female role models anywhere. I know I could do a TEDxTalks of 4 hours about how Feyre, Aelin, Poppy, and Nesta have changed my life. I can talk endlessly about how they gave me a second life, a new perspective, and the strength to move on and be stronger and the better version of myself. And these characters are to name a few because the list keeps growing and growing.
We have amazing authors like SJM, JLA, and Ali Hazelwood that write astonishing and strong FC, main and secondary since we can find our heroines anywhere. I can't thank them enough for that. They have helped me understand that my "weaknesses" are part of my character's traits and personality and that we are always evolving and learning.
I don't want this post to be endless and tiresome. But I want to finish by saying: how proud I am of all my female friends; how thankful I am for having you, my Valkyries, as my role models. I hope you always find your weaknesses as strengths and that YOU are never alone since we have you, and I know you have me.
Until the darkness claims us to whatever end,
Gal♡
